Yesterday me and my two friends (Aayushi and Aradhana) went on a back to back movie trip. Three of us belong to different group of friends but well yeah we are friends too. Three of us wanted to watch The Martian and we couldnt find people interested to watch that movie. I overheard both of them when they we were discussing about this plan about back to back movie that is watch 'The Walk' and then 'The Martian'. Both these movie had high ratings but I didn't knew anything about. The Walk but asked them to count me in. And then, we finally watched both of them. Certainly both of them were amazingly made movie.

Its a true story of 1974, about a high-wire artist, Philippe Petit, a French guy whose crazy dream is to 'hang his wire' on the sky-high Twin Towers (World Trade Centre) and walk on it! The story is about how he fulfills his dream, meeting people and making them his 'Accomplice', learning and experiencing different things on his way to that ultimate goal. This amazing performance was to be done in secrecy, illegally and at own risk. He called it 'The coup'. That dedication he had certainly inspired many (of course me too) that no dream is small, or impossible or too crazy. But when you complete that goal, the feeling, the appreciation you get is worth all the pain and difficulties you faced. A movie worth watching, I must say.

The actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt (third guy from right in the above picture) did an amazing job portraying the artist Philippe Petit. With French accent and cute smile, people must have adored him. He is one of those actor whose work I like the most. Other actors were great as well - Ben Kingsley as Papa Rudy(not in the above picture, man who taught him more about high-wire walking), Charlotte Le Bon as Annie Allix (the woman standing beside him, a fellow street performer as well his love I may say, his first accomplice, supportive throughout his journey to fulfill his dream), Clément Sibomy as Jean-Louis (second from right, his second accomplice, a photographer he befriended, whom he said will be his official photographer, César Domboy as Jeff (second guy from left in front of van, third accomplice brought by Jean-Louis, has fear of heights still helps Philippe with all his courage), Steve Valentine as Barry Greenhouse (fancy mustache guy in the left-most, a life insurance salesman, who is also a fan of Philippe, joins the team after listening to the plan, James Badge Dale as Jean-Pierre (a.k.a. - J.P. in the right van door, a electronic salesman who speaks french, at first thinks they going to rob a bank , but then joins them after hearing the actual plan), he finds two more accomplices Ben Schwartz as Albert(right most guy) and Benedict Samuel as David(guy on the right van door).

The movie is based on the novel 'To Reach The Clouds' by Philippe Petit himself. Movie is directed by Robert Zemeckis. I loved the screenplay by Robert Zemeckis and Christopher Browne.I as in 3D so of course had a great experience. I should certainly remember these people too - Music by Alan Silvestri and Cinematography by Dariusz Wolski. Now I might find the OSTs of this movie (lol).
Go and watch this movie. That excitement and fun of the journey, the little romantic moments, the enthusiasm of the protagonist, his supportive friends- accomplice he calls, the humour throughout the story, the narration, the views and amazing scenes, their risk and fear you would feel that too, and a scene where he loses his mind on the night prior to The Day! August 7, I guess. There is so much I cant describe at once. yes the most amazing part is when he starts The Walk. People in the theater clapped and hooted. Amazing I say totally amazing!
There many amazing facts about the movie and Philippe on that site. Its said that Philippe himself taught Joseph, the actor to walk the high wire and the actor did learn in 8 days of workshop. I ll read more about this. I should buy the novel as well.
I probably did a whole movie review kind of thing. (lol)
next the Martian.....
to be continued....
